Motley Crue's "The Dirt," for example, is a compelling story about one band's experience of what it was to ride the wave of metal stardom in the 1980s. Hellraisers: A Complete Visual History of Heavy Metal Mayhem For my second time through this book, my feelings are pretty much the same as before. It's my favorite book and f you like metal this book is for you.im a person who loves heavy metal. Offering a very clear progression of metal as we know it from Black Sabbath to Dillinger Escape Plan, this book reads like a long version of the type of magazine article that makes you stay seated in the bathroom until you finish, reading. Fans don't have to be offended by that. It is both composed and arranged by Tetsuya Kobayashi whilst written and performed by Lotus Juice. It's definitely getting a little out of date (Hatebreed is mentioned as a "new" band), but does a good job of detailing the way that the evolution of hard rock turned into a global force over a three-decade period. Recomendado. From heavy metal's roots in the work of breakthrough groups such as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin to MTV hair metal, courtroom controversies, black metal murderers and Ozzfest, Sound of the Beast offers the final word on this elusive, extreme, and far-reaching form of music.
It talks about the heaviness of Black Sabbath and the next generation bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest and the next generation like Slayer and Metallica, and the of shoots of heavy metal that evolved form their sound and dissects the intricate differences in each sub-genre. If someone who didn't know much about metal wanted to learn more about its history, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this.
Sound of the Beast is a great read for anybody that's into heavy metal, but as you read, you will find out that Ian Christie is the biggest Metallica fan...ever!! PRODUCT ALREADY IN CART It is obvious the author is both a fine writer and a fan.
Much of the content revolves around the 1980s, which should come as no surprise due to the important work put out in that decade.
All in all, as a gift it seemed to go over well.
