The piston travels very confidently and smoothly once engaged and provides a near full fill with a single stroke. At first, I was skeptical as to how a grey pen might stand apart from the crowd of dark-colored pens, especially with Pelikan who is best known for their bright green birds. I’m hopeful that one day Pelikan will again expand their range of nib offerings but only time will tell.Yes, that makes two of us (and probably many other Pelikan-ites) hoping for the color in the whole lineup of sizes. The cap is secure when the pen is closed and it post very confidently on the back of the pen should you so desire. The M805 Stresemann is a pretty large pen with a thick, round cap and barrel, and slightly rounded ends. Being extremely wet writers out of the box, the Fine nib puts a relatively thick line, which takes around 20 seconds! Where does the Stresemann moniker come from?

Ha Ha Pradeep, I know of your love with the white tortoise nice! Everything is glistening white as you can see the connector nut in the picture. Nothing is more disappointing than unwrapping that high-tech Christmas present only to find out there are no batteries in the house. The Having decided on the M800 I had begun to think I’d never find an M805 (I didn’t want gold trim) that I wanted. I picked my favorite ink, Montblanc Bordeaux, for the Stresemann’s first ink. Pelikan's M805 anthracite Stresemann has been out for a few months now and reviews have steadily been cropping up. What I faced for the last three weeks was a hesitation that proved disappointing. Despite the added weight of the brass piston, I find the M805 to be comfortable for long writing sessions, without inducing fatigue. Interesting.That's a medium nib?

It has a nice heft to it and a very polished finish. Still, the nib is the most disappointing part of the pen.

Yet it has grown on me. It is a really good description and the comparison photos are very informative. Lo and behold, Pelikan gives us the M1005 Stresemann.

Suddenly the extra-long wait for EF in the States seems a bit more bearable...Nice review.

That said, removing the piston is not something that I would routinely recommend and is really never required outside of a repair. Color blindness is a funny thing.

This allows for repair/replacement of damaged nibs as well as the swapping of other M8xx nibs to facilitate different writing experiences.I’m conflicted when it comes to making a judgement on cost and value. The initial models had cap splitting problems etc...I only have two Pelikans, The M1000 and The Evolution of Script which I believe is based on the m800.Yeah I have also been on a lookout of the same.. the new m800 brown tortoise..

If you are truly looking for a fine line, for instance, I’d suggest looking at an EF nib. The piston itself has a very smooth travel. I can’t speak to the other nib sizes, but based on my experience and what I’ve read, all the nib sizes run a little big.For me the nib is too wide and wet to be an all around user. All opinions are my own. I never felt out-of-place pulling it out of my pocket and, for the most part, enjoyed the writing experience. Never really thought about posted vs unposted use. The translucency is subtle but useful at the same time to note ink levels.The sleeve has deeply shining blue stripes and reveals itself with ambient light. I agree that the M nib is rather broad but this is common for the modern Pelikan nibs and needs to be taken into account when ordering. The nibs have a decent spring with an inherent softness in them although without any noticeable flex. I’ll leave it to you to make your own judgements. The ink capacity is 1.35 mL. It was a sudden change that coincided with the second fill.Montblanc Bordeaux is back in the pen and I used it to write the draft of this review.
