J'ai beaucoup de mal à repasser à mon custom 823. You can turn out some beautiful writing if you know the limits of the nib and know how to write Spencerian or even lightly-shaded Copperplate.

I have large hands, with thin long fingers, and I find this size perfect for long extended writing or doodling sessions. The M1000 is the top of the line production fountain pens from Pelikan's Souveran (sovereign) series. The nib is very smooth and the feed is very generous.

A beautiful feedback of nib on paper, my nib was extra fine, as my writing is small and intricate.
The resin (plastic) of the barrel feels harder, colder, but it is extremely well machined.
If starting out with a top of the line pen, I would suggest you start with the M800 instead, simply because the nib characteristics of the M1000 need some finesse and experience to get the most out of it. The Pelikan M1000 fountain pen is the best in my collection
