I did not expect this depth by the synopsis and the first few chapters. This may not be the best contemporary book I have ever read, but it’s still an important book with a narrative that needed to be told. Don't mourn a failed love; there is no such thing. It might be about a love that lasted two weeks or two months or two years, but burned brighter and hotter and more brilliantly than any other love before or after. The dialogue in this book is some of the funniest exchanges! I wanted to read this book because it was compared to Fault in Our Stars and Eleanor & Park, two of my most favorite books of all time. This was one of the most beautiful books I have ever read! BUT I'M SO FRIKKIN' PLEASED THEY BROKE UP I CAN'T EVEN. October 4th 2016 This book broke my heart a little bit. I loved how everything was balanced and it wasn't just a fluffy contemporary and it wasn't one of those books that will leave you feeling like you got ran over by a train. I'm pleased to announce that Our Chemical Hearts redeemed itself by the end. Or rather, the intense heartbreak that is love.

It was the perfect mix of funny and serious. Seventeen-year-old Henry Page (Austin Abrams) has never been in love. Our Chemical Hearts, one of our most anticipated books coming out this fall, happens to fall under the latter category: it’s an irresistible story of first love, broken hearts, and the golden seams that put them back together again. Everything dies, love included. I loved the writing and the humor, but the whole 'trying to cancel out the manic pixie dream girl by calling her a manic pixie dream girl over and OVER' thing was too much.
